- The name Shigure means "purple, violet" (紫) (shi) and "living" (暮) (kure/gure).
- Shigure's surname Kusama means "grass, herb, weed" (草) (kusa) and "while, time, interval, space, pause, chamber, chance, apartment, room, leisure, entr'acte, intervening, as" (間) (ma).
